Recently it seems that every single day there is another reminder that the current economic crisis in America is hitting closer and closer to home for families in our community. Talks about lay-offs and the anxiety surrounding potential job loss is something I now hear almost everyday, and the needs of those who are already struggling financially also continue to grow. The crisis seems to be setting in, not moving on.
Following the completion of our “Walking with Jesus” message series and our Easter weekend celebration, we’re going to spend the next four weeks focused on the idea of “Upside Living in a Downside Economy.” When we originally set our message series for the four weeks after Easter, this was not the series we had scheduled, but because of the growing anxiety, we felt like it was something that was important to address.
In starting to work on those four weekends, I was sent a link to the following video which seeks to illustrate the “why” of our current economic condition. For all those out there who are not experts on all things related to the economy [which I think includes about 99.9% of us] I think this video is worth watching.
