Thoughts from “The Well” kickoff
Today, we had our first gathering of The Well, a new weekend worship opportunity at First Methodist Mansfield. Last week, we had four opportunities for our Church to gather in worship. This weekend, we had five!
Here’s a few thoughts on our first weekend…
- Our Digital Worship Team [Audio/Visual crew] is amazing! The new chapel space was finished and ready for worship late Saturday Night and though are many things they will be tweaking this week and a few things that we actually did not debut this weekend, the congregation experienced a fully functional worship environment. This team did a phenomenal job!
- Our music team was awesome! This team had a really small window to get comfortable with the new worship space. They actually rehearsed with the new sound system for this first time on Saturday night! Like their A/V counterparts, this team performed with excellence and great passion. Doug, our worship leader for The Well, has put together a great team!
- The acoustics in the new chapel are absolutely amazing! I’m not sure the congregation gets to hear this quite as well as those of us on the stage area, but the singing filled the room like you wouldn’t believe. I was blown away.
- Our Church is excited about our future! I was really blessed by the support and excitement that so many brought with them to this kickoff. I know there were many in attendance today who regularly worship at a different time, but the fact that they took time to come to our first gathering, express their support and excitement for this, “new place for new people,” says a lot about our Church.
- I love my job! Today was a great day, and like most days, I left feeling humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve this congregation.
- Today was just the beginning…

“The Well” was incredible. The music, the worship and the message was great. I particularly enjoyed the “intimacy” that the worship in the chapel provided. Although many did come for perhaps just a peek or to express their support, I think that the packed-house atttendance suggests that there was an obvious need for this added dimension of worship at our church.
I want to express my thanks to everyone who helped make this new service a reality. I believe that it will be another great way to help FUMCM to go about the task of “Making Disciples of Jesus Christ who will love God, love others, and serve the world!”
I think that the service was great and the sound was great and the message was great.
