About
In the tenth chapter of John’s Gospel, Jesus says, “I have come that they might have life and have it to the full.”
This blog is about the pursuit of that life.
My name is David.
I’m sometimes known as Stephanie’s husband.
I’m also known as Anna & Jack’s dad.
And some people call me “Pastor David.”
I answer to all of them.
As a pastor, I have the honor of sharing life with a group of people who are also striving to embrace the life promised in John 10:10, a way of life that James Bryan Smith refers to as a “good and beautiful life.”
It’s about living with a deep sense of purpose,
with a passion for what you do and who you are becoming,
and an awareness that every moment is a gift,
that every day is an opportunity.
Again, it’s what this blog is all about.
The sole purpose of this blog is to challenge and inspire you to pursue the good and beautiful life offered in Jesus.
If you enjoy what you find here, I hope you will consider subscribing via email or RSS feed to receive future posts.
And if there is anything that touches a nerve,
opens a door or tugs at your heart,
I hope you will consider sharing this blog with someone else.
Because that’s why I write…
to offer the invitation to a life this is better and more beautiful than we have ever imagined.
If you are interested, here’s a bit more about me.
I absolutely love my job serving as the Teaching Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, Texas.
In my role at the church I share the preaching responsibilities with our Senior Pastor and I also produce a weekly resource we call GPS. [www.growpraystudy.org] This five day reading plan published each week serves as a supplement to our messages each weekend.
My wife, Stephanie and I met while working at the Wesley Foundation at Texas A&M University. We have two wonderful kids, Anna & Jack, and just recently celebrated our first decade of marriage.
